Bora Bora

Like Tahiti, 161 miles away, Bora Bora is a member of the Society Islands. Christened the “Pearl of the Pacific” by Captain Cook, it is arguably the most beautiful Polynesian island and it is certainly one of the most photographed. The twin peaks of its volcano rise up lush and green from the unbelievably turquoise and sapphire shades of the lagoon which surrounds it.
Although it is far and away the smallest of the major islands, it has some of the most luxurious hotels and is particularly popular with honeymooners for its unbelievably romantic setting.
Once one island, the main island is surrounded by smaller islands as its low lying areas were submerged under water creating a unique setting of little jewels around the mother island. Even the airport is on its own motu, so travel to the hotel is by boat to the main island and then by road.
The lagoon surrounding the main island is a natural swimming pool fringed by glorious white sand beaches and for divers, this truly is paradise found.
