The environment means surroundings in which people, animals and plants developt and exist. The biggest problem is pollution of environment. Polutiion is damage to the air, sea, rivers and land caused by chcemicals.
The biggest polluter today is the car. It caused bad quality o fair which make people ill and have difficultty breathing. This problem is especially in some cities. Factories cause water pollution because many of them are built near rivers into which they put chemical waste.
Another problem is greenhouse effect. It´s caused by harmful gases known as greenhouse gases. These gases are produced when we burn fuels especially coal (in power station) to make electricity. These gases go up into Earth´s atmosphere, but leaveheat on the Earth. Because the heat can´t escape and Earth is getting warmer. This is known as global warming. Global warming can cause thar polar ice may being to melt and sea levels to rise. It can lead to serious flooding in many parts of the world.
