TRAGEDY IN POLOMKA

On 21 March morning became tragedy. In the village of Polomka the bus ran over to the rain. When tragedy 12 people died and others were injured. Bus full of people went skiing. People were from Banovce n/ Bebravou. People who died were prominent businessmen and doctors. Some are seriously injured and in hospital. Others are already home. In tragedy died 3 couples. Guilt is the bus driver who violated the rules. During passage through the rails had discarded gear. The driver is in serious mental condition and takes strong medicines.
On 22 March, Sunday, was declared a national mourning in the Republic of Slovakia. The deceased was made last farewell. The entire village Sunday Banovce n./ Bebravou carried over to the church flowers and candles and praying.
This tragedy shakes whole Slovak.

OBAMA VISITS PRAGUE

President Barack Obama will visit Prague in April. This visit will take place after the NATO meeting. This meeting will take place on 3rd and 4 April in Germany. Barack Obama comes into the main of the Czech Republic for two days. The President stays for one night in Prague.

Alternative Sources of Energy

What is energy? The word is taken from Greek “energos,, which means “active working,,. It can be characterized as the physical and mental strength that makes you able to be active, or in other words, it is the ability to do work. Energy comes in many different forms, such as kinetic, thermal, electrical, nuclear and other.
Alternative energy refers to energy sources which are not based on the burning of fossil fuels or the splitting of atoms. There are some possible alternatives, such as hydropower, solar energy, wind power, geothermal energy, tidal energy, and waste utilization.
Hydropower had the greatest influence on peoples lives during the 20th century. It played a major role in making the wonders of electricity a part of everyday life and helped spur industrial development. Hydropower produces 24 percent of worlds electricity and supplies more than one billion people with electric energy.
Solar energy is one the most promising sources of energy for the future. The use of solar energy can be either passive or active.
Wind power is another alternative energy source. Electricity generated by wind turbines is absolutely free of emissions. The application of wind energy converters is attractive only is areas with a high average wind speed, wind turbines can spoil the view of the landscape.
Geothermal energy is an alternative energy source.

Hurricanes are one of natures most destructive forces.
Can you imagine the thoughts of people who live in regions where very destructive hurricanes have recently hit when they hear the words “the new hurricane season is about to begin,,?
The word hurricane comes from the West Indian word “huracan,, meaning big wind. The hurricane season starts in mid June, the most prevalent time for these strong winds is August and September. Hurricanes are huge tropical cyclones that begin over the oceans near the Equator. The Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea are favourite areas. Sometimes these hurricanes just circulate over the ocean, but it is when they approach land that they can be extremely destructive.
The winds in a hurricane can reach in excess of 150 miles per hour.
One of the big problems caused by a hurricane is to property along the coast. The very strong winds can raise the water level by two to five metres.
In 1900 in Galveston, Texas, a hurricane swept a five-metre wall of water from the Gulf of Mexico into the city. Over 6 000 people perished.
It is a fact that about 90% of deaths attributed to a hurricane are caused by drowning

Light signalling

Department of transport and Slovak railway company decided to place the light signalling on railway crossing in Polomka.
In this railway crossing happened railway accident on 21st February this year. Train crashed into the bus and 12 people died and 20 people were injured, but there was nobody injured in the train, luckily. The official results of examination will be made public in 30 days.
Railway crossing in Polomka was blind, and there was only warning cross on the railway crossing. Right after accident Department of transport announced, that railway crossing in Polomka is in satisfactory condition and is save.
But nowadays the opinion of Department of transport is different. The light signalling will be built in few days on railway crossing in Polomka.

Dominican Republic

Academy awards

The Academy Awards, mostly know as the Oscars, are presented by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The Oscars are the main national film award in the USA and are highly recognized in other countries too. The awards are also broadcasted in the television. The first awards were held at the Hotel Roosvelt in Holywood on May the 16-th in 1929 and since then everything has changed several times. Nobody really knows where the name Oscar came from. One former employee stated in her biography that the awards were named after her fist husband – Oscar. She told her colleagues that the small statue looked like her ex-husband and since this incident they have all called the whole awards just Oscars. Nobody knows if this story is true or if she made it all up but nobody really cares. The Oscars are a great event and everybody enjoys it – the actors and the onlookers too. So watch it tomorrow!

Our planet is protected by ozone layer. But nowadays there are more and more holes in the ozone layer. They can have a harmful effect on animal and causes skin cancer in humans. It means that sunbathing is more dangerous than several years ago.
And how to protect our environment?
There are some solutions:
Alternative form of transport. Public transport is more environmentally friendly, because buses and trains can carry large number of people at the same time. Cleaner solutions are electric cars and using bicycles.
Wind power, wavw power and solar power don´t polute the environment.
We can help environment by choosing to buy green products sucha s recycled paper.
Many people try to protect to environment by joining environmental group sucha s Greenpeace. In our country i is „Strom života.“

The environment means surroundings in which people, animals and plants developt and exist. The biggest problem is pollution of environment. Polutiion is damage to the air, sea, rivers and land caused by chcemicals.
The biggest polluter today is the car. It caused bad quality o fair which make people ill and have difficultty breathing. This problem is especially in some cities. Factories cause water pollution because many of them are built near rivers into which they put chemical waste.
Another problem is greenhouse effect. It´s caused by harmful gases known as greenhouse gases. These gases are produced when we burn fuels especially coal (in power station) to make electricity. These gases go up into Earth´s atmosphere, but leaveheat on the Earth. Because the heat can´t escape and Earth is getting warmer. This is known as global warming. Global warming can cause thar polar ice may being to melt and sea levels to rise. It can lead to serious flooding in many parts of the world.

Many people are to leave unwanted. Go to work just maintenance work. All the halls are empty. On 25 February is to resume production. Its really so? The enterprise employs over 7500 people.
Some employees voluntarily terminated employment. Decreased interest in cars and staled production. Volkswagen wants to extend the production of small cars.
This financial crisis hit the other car companies – KIA MOTORS in Žilina, PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN in Trnava. Many people are released from employment and many more people will be released.

Slovak goal keeper Jan Lasak will present himself in the highest czech competition with his new hokey mask. He didn´t choose its decoration but his fans did. They voted in Lasak official website and chose new mask for him. Creative fans also designed a lot of mask motions. Firstly slovak representative must choose from 120 motions five final motifs. According to Lasak new mask good combinate slovak and pardubic motifs. General public inquiry attend more than 4000 voting fans and for final winning mask voted half of them. Lasak decides to provide for all of creators who design his hokey mask two free tickets on a hokey match in Pardubice. He will play in this match with these new mask.

Andrej Sekera is back on the ice

Slovak hockey full-back Andrej Sekera involved in overseas hockey club Buffalo Sabres played in his first match after his injury at Friday.
Participant MS 2008 was injured at 15th january. Since then, he missed twelve games because of his problems with ankle.

22-year-old Sekera spent 18:08 minutes on the ice in match againts San Jose. He obtain one positive point and he shooted once. He spent in this season more than 22 minutes at an average. He scored one goal and maked 12 assistances in 43 games.

Finally his team won 6:5 and prove that belongs among the best teams in NHL.

After the enormous success of the book TWILIGHT is now the same-named movie airing in our cinemas. The popularity of the movie Twilight is enormous and it is rising every day. In just the opening weekend Twilight beat the movie Sex in the city or Madagaskar 2 and was placed on the fourth place right behind the Harry Potter movies. The Slovak premiere was in Bratislava on the 15. January 2009 and the movie is currently airing in other towns too. The movie is about a young seventeen year girl - Bella Swan- who moved to the small town Forks to live with her father after her mother re-married. Bella hated at first Forks but then she finds new friends and falls in love with Edward Cullen. But Edward can’t even look at her and Bella want answers. Edward Cullen is not an ordinary boy; he is not even human along with his family. All of them are vampires but this is not the greatest problem. Edward falls in love with Bella but he sees her also as the best meal he could eat. He along with his family are just drinking blood from the animals and although it is enough to survive it is not enough to be sated. So what part of him will win? Will he be able to love her and save her from the other vampires who want to drink her blood or will he surrender to his prime need? If you want to know the answers then you will have to watch the film. It is really worthy of your time.
